At Tethered by Grace, our goal is not to decide which breeders deserve a particular label. Instead, we want to help families understand the practices behind responsible breeding so they can ask meaningful questions, evaluate information, and make informed decisions.
Responsible breeding is not defined by one test, one registration, one pedigree, or one number.
It is reflected in a pattern of responsible decisions.
The Elements of Responsible Breeding
Tethered by Grace Inc. believes transparency matters—including our own.
Our President, Jessica, has firsthand experience as a dog breeder, and members of our organization have experience with breeding dogs, health testing, veterinary care, and puppy development. That experience gives us valuable insight into the realities and responsibilities involved in bringing puppies into the world.
We also recognize that breeding philosophies and practices vary. The purpose of our Responsible Breeding resources is education—not the promotion or endorsement of any individual breeder or breeding program.
We encourage families to ask questions, review health-testing information, consult trusted veterinary professionals, and evaluate each breeding program on its own practices.
The same principles we encourage you to ask other breeders about—health, welfare, transparency, veterinary partnership, and accountability—are the principles we believe should be open to examination everywhere.

Our Educational Approach
Tethered by Grace Inc. believes education empowers people to make better decisions for themselves and their animals.
We don't believe responsible dog ownership begins with telling families where they must obtain a dog.
Dogs join families through breeders, shelters, rescues, rehoming situations, and many other circumstances.
Our role is to provide education that helps people ask informed questions, recognize responsible practices, understand potential concerns, and make thoughtful decisions with the lifelong welfare of dogs at the center.
Breeding philosophies differ, and no single label tells the whole story.
When discussing responsible breeding, we encourage families to look at the complete picture:
