The Alexa Memorial Scholarship

Alexa was more than a dog—she was a cherished member of the Tritz family, a loyal companion, and a source of unconditional love. As a Bernese Mountain Dog, she brought joy, comfort, laughter, and companionship to everyone fortunate enough to know her.

In 2024, Alexa passed away unexpectedly during what was anticipated to be a routine spay surgery. What should have been a standard procedure resulted in a heartbreaking loss, leaving the Tritz family devastated and struggling to make sense of losing a beloved family member far too soon.

In the midst of that grief, Jessica Tritz, Founder and President of Tethered By Grace Inc., chose to honor Alexa's memory in a way that would create lasting impact. Inspired by Alexa's gentle spirit and the profound bond between people and dogs, Jessica established the Alexa Memorial Scholarship to transform loss into opportunity.

The Alexa Memorial Scholarship supports individuals who are passionate about creating positive change through their connection with dogs. Whether pursuing education, launching a program, advancing a career, conducting research, volunteering in rescue, training service dogs, advocating for animal welfare, developing innovative canine initiatives, or following any path that strengthens the bond between people and dogs, recipients share a commitment to making a meaningful difference.

This scholarship recognizes that impact comes in many forms. By supporting individuals with vision, compassion, and purpose, the Alexa Memorial Scholarship helps turn ideas into action and dreams into reality—all while honoring the extraordinary influence dogs have on our lives.

Through each scholarship awarded, Alexa's legacy continues to inspire kindness, service, and innovation, creating opportunities for people whose work, education, or aspirations will positively affect dogs, their families, and communities.
